RESTAURANT STYLE BHINDI MASALA RECIPE

There are many people, who does not like bhindi especially kids. But we all knows the nutritional value of bhindi. All mothers are confused that how to introduce bhindi with their kids diet, so here is the solution of your query. This Healthy and delicious Bhindi Masala Recipe in Restaurant style,  which everyone loved this recipe and your kids demand for more even the bhindi haters also loved this recipe.


 Nutritional value of Bhindi (Lady's finger):
  • It contains beneficial antioxidants, that may reduce your risk of serious disease and prevents inflectional disease like swelling, redness, sourness in your body. It contains  polyphenols that protects the body's tissue against stress, cancer, coronary heart disease and inflammation.
  • It can eliminate more cholesterol level in blood and lower the risk of heart disease. 
  • It contains a protein named lectin, Which may reduce the growth of human cancer cell. Though it have also a cancer preventive property.
  • Taking bhindi as a diet, it can control sugar level in blood.
  • It is very much beneficial for pregnant women as it contain vitamin-B9 or folic acid, which is an important nutrient for pregnant women.

Types of Bhindi Recipes:

There are many types of bhindi recipe, the names are bhindi fry, bharwa bhindi, bhindi do pyaza, kurkuri bhindi, dahi bhindi, bhindi masala, aloo bhindi masala. Today I describe about Bhindi Masala in restaurant style.

The Bhindi masala recipe is very much popular in Indian kitchen, which is made by cooking together the bhindi, tomatoes, onion and few basic ingredients and sometimes potatoes also used with this recipe.

How to make bhindi less sticky/slimy:
  • Wash the bhindi properly before cutting them.
  • Then wipe them completely one by one with a dry cloth.
  • Do not cut it very thin because there is a chance of sticking in pan. This point is only for beginners otherwise there is no problem to cut them thin.
  • Then come to the point of adding salt. do not add salt at first, because when salt combined with bhindi it produce water in bhindi which make stickiness to the recipe. Always add salt at last, while there is no chance of water formation.
  • Do not cover the pan while cooking bhindi.
  • If you add 1 tsp of lemon juice while frying the bhindi, after sometime it will make the bhindi become non-sticky or non-slimy.
  This bhindi masala recipe is one of the easiest and delicious recipe of bhindi, which you can serve with steamed rice or roti. You can roll this bhindi masala in roti and can pack as a tiffin to your kids or your husband. As This recipe is dry then it is easy for pack the tiffin.

Now without wasting any time, lets go the healthy and delicious Bhindi Masala in restaurant style.

Bhindi Masala Recipe:
Ingredients:
  • 500 gms of Bhindi/lady's finger/okra
  • 2 chopped medium size onion
  • 2 medium size tomato puree
  • 2-3 pieces chopped green chili
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin seed
  • 4 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder   
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp chickpea flour (besan)
  • 1 tbsp corn flour.
  • 1 cup curd (yogurt)
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • water as required
Preparation of Bhindi fry:

Step 1: At first wash the bhindi and wipe it completely with a dry cloth, then cut into half, if there is small size bhindi then just cut only its edges.

Step 2:  After cutting of bhindi then add besan, cornflour, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp red chili powder and 1/2 tsp coriander powder into it. after adding all the dry ingredients then mix it properly with a spoon.

Step 3: Then heat a pan and add 2 tbsp oil. After heating the oil in low medium flame add bhindi and stir fry in medium flame without lid for 4-5 minutes.

Step 4: After 4-5 minutes of saute switch off the flame and take out the bhindi in a plate.

Preparation of Bhindi Masala:

Step 1: Take the same pan and heat 2 tbsp of cooking oil. After heating of oil add cumin seed and give time to crackle it. Then after crackling of cumin seed add chopped onion into the pan and stir fry in medium flame.

Step 2: When the onion turn brown in color then add chopped green chili and ginger garlic paste and mix it well.

Step 3: After mixing the above spices then add tomato puree then mix it. After mixing add basic spices like turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder and salt to taste. Then mix the all spices properly in low medium flame for 1 minute.

Step 4: After 1 minute of mixing then add curd or yogurt into the masala. Then mix it and leave the masala for 2-3 minutes in low medium flame.

Step 5 : Then add 5 tbsp of water into the masala and mix it and cook it with lid for another 4-5 minutes in medium flame. But check the masalas in some intervals.

Step 6: When oil comes out from masala and the masala leave the pan then your masala is ready.

Step 7: After preparation of masala then add fried bhindi into it and mixed it perfectly and carefully and cook it with lid for 4-5 minutes in low flame.

Step 8: After 5 minutes switch off the flame and your healthy and delicious bhindi masala is ready to serve.

Step 9: You can garnish it with sliced onion, tomatoes and put a mint leaf at the center of your dish.

Tips for Bhindi Masala:
  • Always use fresh bhindi to make bhindi masala.
  • While cutting the bhindi take care about its size and presence of insect inside it. In this rainy season there is chance of insects inside the vegetables.
  • If you are beginner and while you try to saute bhindi, your bhindis gets sticky then try to dip fry it to avoid stickiness or follow my above tips about making non-sticky bhindi.
